A meme being propagated by The Psycho Chicken. In which you must name your ten favourite songs beginning with a letter chosen by whoever you picked up the meme from. I my case, Psycho Chicken gave me the letter “H”.
I don’t really have time to go through my entire CD collection and listing everything beginning with H (I don’t have an iTunes library that can do it in a flash!) So there are bound to be some glaring omissions. But I can recommend these ten.
- Hallowed Ground - Paradise Lost
- Harvest Moon - Blue Öyster Cult
- Harvest of Souls - IQ
- Hasan I Sabah - Hawkwind
- Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath
- Heroes Never Die - Mostly Autumn
- Hey Hey, My My (Out of the Blue) - Neil Young
- Hollow - Mostly Autumn (But played live by Breathing Space)
- Hotel Hobbies - Marillion
- How I Feel Today - Odin Dragonfly
I’ve tried not to include the same artist more than once. Yes I know counting “Hollow” as a Breathing Space song is cheating, but it’s my blog, and nobody else is going to rules-lawyer me! For the record, Half a World, Half the Mountain, Heart Life and Helm’s deep were all in the short list.
If you want me to choose you a letter, leave me a comment!
OK. Give me a letter then…
Let’s see. I could be cruel and give you ‘X’ or ‘Z’, but.
What about “C”?
In no particular order:
‘Carry On’ by Spacehog
‘Credo’ by Fish
‘Changes’ by David Bowie
‘Comfortably numb’ by Pink Floyd
‘Crazy little thing called love’ by Queen
‘Closer to the heart’ by Rush
‘Can’t find my way home’ by Blind Faith
‘Crazy on you’ by Heart
‘Childhood’s end’ by Marillion
‘Carry on’ by ManOwaR (seriously! Its a great song - makes you feel glad to be alive! You can face anything after listening to this song…)
I suppose for the benefit of your blog I could have chosen ‘Caught in a fold’, but its still growing on me…
Can’t remember which Manowar album it is now, but I’ve got the album with “Carry On” on it.
Manowar are as cheesy as hell, but entertaining. I was never quite sure if the whole thing is a gigantic pisstake, or whether they really do take themselves seriously. I hope it’s the former.
“Death to false metal!” - ManOwaR signed their contracts with the record company in their own blood, them must be serious… ;o)
Its on 1987′s “Fighting the world” album, ManOwaR’s finest hour. All their other albums are but a pale reflection of this one.
